Pink Cupcakes…..and a Giveaway!!

You know how you know your kid is feeling better?

Well, she runs around doing the exact opposite of what you ask her to do and she does every, single thing within her power to torture her little brother.

The strep is better.  The rash is still a little….blech….but no fever.

And did I mention she has been going 100 mph?

So back to school it is!

She tried the whole “but mommy I don’t want to go back to school because I’m going to miss you too much!” bit.  But I wasn’t buying it.  Plus I knew she was totally making that up when I said, “Well I will be there tomorrow doing my volunteer work….I will come have lunch with you!”  She immediately said, “No.  That’s ok mom.

It is also school day for the Monkey.  And it happens to be his last school day before his birthday on Saturday.  So like any good mom would (a-hem) I sent the boy off to school with cupcakes for his class.  I did feel a little strange about it though…..one, I used a box cake mix and a can of frosting.  Which is fine!  Except that I never do that so I was feeling extremely lazy and quite guilty.  After all, when the Princess went to that school, I made homemade, heart-shaped sugar cookies with a pink ‘F’ iced in the middle for her birthday.

Ok.  Mostly I feel guilty.

But do you think Monkey cares?  Well he certainly didn’t care that his cupcakes were pink!

He asked for strawberry.  So I made strawberry.  The color never even crossed my mind till I was slaving over a big bowl of cake mix, staring at the shockingly pink (quite unnatural) strawberry goo. 

My son is taking pink cupcakes to school for his birthday.  And the grin on his face when he saw them told me that was just fine.
